For most couples, getting pregnant has always been a happy and joyous feeling. You will pretty much get excited on your journey toward childbirth. However, there are accompanying signs and symptoms of pregnancy that are uncomfortable.
One of the most uncomfortable symptoms you might encounter is morning sickness. In morning sickness, the pregnant woman feels nauseous. Sometimes, she might even vomit and feel tired often.
Also dubbed as nausea
Morning sickness is the result of an increased level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). The higher the levels of this hormone, the more severe your symptoms will be. Here are ways to relieve morning sickness.
Carbohydrates And Proteins
Eating carbohydrates such as biscuits and bread could help curb the feeling of morning sickness. You can eat a few crackers early in the morning before your sickness starts. You can pair it with proteins like cheese for better results. Moreover, small frequent feedings will help you keep your energy levels high throughout the day.
Ice Cubes
Ice cubes relieve nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. You can eat a cube before getting up in the morning when the sickness is at its peak. You can freeze Gatorade in ice cube trays to help replenish your electrolytes.
Ginger
In traditional ways, ginger is used to settle the stomach and reduce queasiness. You can look for drinks made with ginger or try to make you own. You can mix ginger in your drinking water or tea.
Get Plenty Of Rest
Aside from your nausea and vomiting, you will feel tired and fatigued all the time. You can alleviate this feeling through getting plenty of rest, especially on your first trimester.
Sniff Lemons
When you’re feeling nauseous, you can sniff lemon-scented things, or better yet, slice a lemon in half and smell it. It will alleviate the feeling of nausea.
Drink Adequate Amount Of Water
When you’re nauseous, all you want is to prevent drinking to reduce vomiting. This is wrong. You should drink more, the adequate amount, to ensure you won’t be dehydrated. Moreover, the more dehydrated you are, the more nauseous you’ll become.
Breakfast In Bed
One of the most efficient ways to reduce morning sickness is through eating early, on bed. Eat some crackers or bread as soon as you wake up. It will help you have something inside your stomach before you start the day.
Morning sickness is a hard experience every pregnant woman will experience. However, it’s also a sign that you’re really pregnant and you’re going to be a mom soon! Make sure you follow these guidelines to help you cope with morning sickness properly. You can do many things to reduce morning sickness, which is really hard and exhausting for first time pregnant women.
