Constipation is a problem that many face every day. Various things ranging from distorted diet to an unhealthy lifestyle are responsible for it. Sometimes people feel embarrassed about this problem and hesitate to discussing it with anybody. This is not something to be embarrassed about. While constipation can be an indication of bigger health problems, if your doctor has given you a clean bill of health the following home and natural remedies can help you get rid of his problem.
1. Triphala powder
Triphala is an important component of Indian Ayurvedic medicine and is a mixture of Amla (gooseberry), Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) and Vibitaki (Bellirica myrobalan). This magnificent powder helps prevent any sort of digestive problem and regulates the bowels. One teaspoon of this powder can be consumed with warm water either before going to bed or early in the morning. It provides relief of constipation almost instantly and regular use prevents the problem completely.
2. Avoid refined foods
Foods prepared in refined oil are the biggest reason behind constipation. Switching over from refined foods to foods prepared in healthy oils like olive oil can be useful in constipation. Try a diet high in fiber.
3. Coffee
An integral ingredient of coffee is caffeine. It refreshes the body and is known for stimulating the digestive system.
4. Lemon
Lemon is recommended in Ayurveda to treat almost all digestion-related problems, constipation is no exception. When you wake up grab a glass of warm water with lemon juice and salt. This tasty blend will help keep your bowel movements smooth.
5. Fruit-based meal
If constipation is becoming a bigger problem try replacing one regular meal with a fruit salad. You can use apples, oranges, or bananas. These foods are high in fiber and are excellent for curing constipation.
6. Establish a routine
Our body is a machine that loves being in a routine. Changing the times of sleeping, waking up, even bathroom time disturbs the routine of the body and leads to digestive problems. Try to set a bathroom schedule and stick to it.
7. More water
Drinking enough water can help resolve the majority of health-related problems including constipation. Drinking more water improves the digestive system and keeps such problems away. Drinking a glass of warm water before going to bed and after rising is ideal.
8. Exercise
Workouts are not just for building muscles or losing weight, exercise involves the entire body and regulates digestion. Daily exercise becomes a part of your routine.
9. Baking soda
Baking soda is a bicarbonate and when it goes inside our body it forces air to escape from the body which relieves constipation pain. Whenever you have constipation problems try adding one tablespoon of baking soda to one cup warm water and drink the mixture as fast as you can. This mixture re-alkalizes the tummy and neutralizes acid making it pass through.
10. Don’t try too hard
Respecting the call of nature is healthy, however trying too hard might be harmful. If its not coming on its own wait a while. Try some of the above mentioned remedies and wait for the time when it happens.
Trying the above remedies will probably do the trick for you, however if it still doesn’t work talk to your doctor as it might mean something serious.
