Whereas jock itch is treated with OTC antifungal cream, you can use home remedies to cure your jock itch. Here are some of the home remedies which are anti-fungal and anti-bacterial in nature, making them efficient natural ways to get rid of jock itch.

Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil is one of the efficient home remedies for various skin conditions like jock itch. This is because it is packed with natural antifungal properties, antibacterial property, deep cleansing and stimulating elements. The oil soothes the affected area as it reduces the itching and inflammation occurring during jock itch.

It is very simple to use. All you need to dip a cotton ball into tea tree oil. Apply it on the affected area twice time in a day. Or you can add few drops of tea tree oil to your bath tub and soak yourself for 20 minutes.

(Note: Dilute the oil with some parts of water as concentrated form can cause irritation.)

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Like tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar is widely used to treat contagious skin conditions like jock itch. The vinegar contains antifungal and antibacterial contents. It is useful to reduce the signs like redness and rashes.

Add one tbsp. of the vinegar to a glass of cold water and wash the affected part with that. Let it dry naturally. Do it 2-3 times in a day to see improvement.

Garlic:

Garlic is a simple yet effective home remedy to cure jock itch at home. It contains anti-fungal properties and lowers the itching and pain.

Prepare a garlic paste and apply it on the affected part of the skin. Wait for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with warm water. Repeat the process twice a day to have your jock itch healed fast.

Honey

The medicinal properties of honey have been found in the oldest literatures, and since the ancient times, it has been known to have antimicrobial properties and wound healing properties as well. Besides, its high thickness helps to create a protective barrier to prevent infection. This is why it directly attacks the fungus causing redness, burning sensation and itching in jock itch.

Apply raw honey onto affected areas directly to get rid of itching.

Alternatively, you can take honey, olive oils and beeswax in equal parts to make the paste. Use this paste 3 times a day for two week to speed up you healing.

Onions

Onion can work quite well in case of jock itch as it is high on anti-fungal, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Just chop up an onion and grind it to get a paste. Now, apply this paste of onion to the skin part and leave it for half an hour. Wash it off with cold water. Pat it dry with a towel. Besides, you can add them to your diet for an overall positive effect.

Epsom Salt Bath:

Epsom is the composite form of sulfate and magnesium. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and skin recovery home remedy for jock itch.

Add 1-3 cups of Epsom salt to a regular size of bath tub. Stir well. Soak for 20 minutes. Afterwards, pat it dry with a towel.

So, these are the some of the effective home remedies for jock itch. Besides using these home remedies, follow these precautions:

  • Take care of your personal hygiene
  • Keep your groin area dry by using talcum powder
  • Don’t wear sweaty clothes
  • Make sure to change your underwear daily
  • Don’t’ wear tight clothes
  • Don’t share your beddings and belongings with other
  • Use topical antifungal cream
  • Avoid scratching the area

(Note: Please see your physician immediately if there is no improvement in your skin condition within a week or get worse. It can be a bacterial infection that requires an antibiotic treatment. )
